William Higgs

Mr. William Bennett Higgs, age 87, of Martin died Thursday, December 22, 2011, at Volunteer Community Hospital.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 24, 2011, at the Martin Church of Christ; 1:00 P.M. Burial to follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. at the church, two hours prior to funeral service at 1:00 P.M.

Mr. Higgs was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Hodges Higgs; his parents, Ben F. Higgs and Julia Wharton Higgs; his sister, Martha Parrish, his granddaughter, Cheyenne Higgs.

Mr. Higgs is survived by his sons, Gary (Harriett) Higgs of Martin, Mark (Julie) Higgs of Livingston, Montana and Mike (Vickie) Higgs of Martin; 10 grandchildren, Shane Higgs, Jeff Hay, Sierra Higgs, Skylar Higgs Courtney Higgs (Chris) Williams, Camille Higgs, Mary Elizabeth Higgs, Murphy Higgs, Christie Reynolds Essary and Ryne Reynolds; four great-grandchildren, Garrett Hay Dustin Scott, Ben Higgs and Clay Higgs.

Mr. Higgs was a self-employed farmer and a U.S. Marine veteran. He was a graduate of Martin High School and a member of Martin Church of Christ.
