Thomas (Tom) Jefferson Whitesides, 85, passed into eternal rest with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 7th. He was born September 10, 1936 to parents Frank J. Whitesides and DeLois King of Troy, TN. He graduated from Troy High School in 1954. He married his sweetheart, Joyce June Cherry, on September 6, 1958. Tom received a B.A. in Business from the University of Tennessee at Martin where he later worked for a number of years. He then started his own business, T&J Manufacturing. He was a member of the Masonic lodge and the Shriners.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wonderful son, Jeffery Frank Whitesides and sister Melba D. Robinowitz.
He is survived by his lovely wife of 63 years Joyce Whitesides of Martin, daughter Debra June Davis (Jim) of Columbia, TN; daughter-in-law Suzanne Jane Orfield (Mark) of Meadowview, VA; brothers Jess Whitesides (Betty) of Troy; Joe Whitesides (Sherry) of Union City; a dear aunt; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Beloved grandchildren include Jennifer Gail Hofman (Bryan) of Barboursville, VA; Jordan Leigh Widener (Jordan) of Abingdon, VA; James Daniel Davis III (Betsy) of Columbia, TN; Jonathan Thomas Whitesides (Anna) of Abingdon, VA; Whitney Rose McAulay (Cameron) of Summertown, TN; Paul Franklin Davis (Mabel) of Nashville, TN; and Natalie Joy Davis of Columbia, TN.
Great-grandchildren include DeLyla June Davis, Rinnah LeeAnn McAulay, Caroline June Widener, Jefferson Reese McAulay, Eliza Jane Widener, Amelia James Davis, and Mateo Gabriel Davis.
A funeral service will be conducted at Bible Union Baptist Church, 2852 Bible Union Road, Martin at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 14th, with visitation starting at 9 am. Burial at Stanley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 5346 Stanley Chapel Church Road, Union City.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospital.
