Steven Pope, Sr.

Mr. Steven Alan Pope, Sr., age 65, of Martin died Thursday, December 9, 2021, at West Tennessee Volunteer Hospital in Martin, Tennessee.

Funeral service will be Sunday, December 12, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Rev. Cody Barner and Rev. Gordon Wilbanks officiating.  Burial will follow in McConnell Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 12:00 Noon until funeral time at 2:00. 

Pallbearers are Jacob Shadowens, Matthew Bynum, Josh Pope, Jeff Merritt, Dennis Cook, Scott Readnour and Joey Liliker.  Honorary Pallbearers are Tyler Bynum and the Tyson Maintenance Group.

Mr. Pope is survived by his children, Steven Alan Pope, Jr and Shaunda (Rob) Shadowens both of Martin; his brother, Stan Pope of Martin; sisters, Tenna (Jimmy) Bynum of South Fulton, TN and Tamera (Donald) Bowlin of Dresden, TN; four grandchildren, Olivia Pope, Katie Pope, Jacob Shadowens and Kailey Shadowens.

Mr. Pope was a retired independent truck driver and was currently employed with Tyson Foods in Union City, Tennessee.  He was a graduate of South Fulton High School and a member of McConnell Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Neal Pope and Betty Sue Allen Pope.
