Mr. Matthew Scott Fortner, 58, of Martin, TN died Saturday, February 8, 2020 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 11, 2020, 11:00 A.M. at Central Baptist Church with Rev. Kylan Mann officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, February 10, 2020, from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church, or after 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday until service time at 11:00.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents, Wesley and Gladys Fortner and Bruce and Doris Crane of Waverly, TN; his father, Wesley O'Neil Fortner, Jr. of Waverly, TN; and sister, Lisa Fortner Hurst (David) of Chandler, Arizona.
Scott, born in Atlanta, GA, was an Eagle Scout, and a graduate of Westview High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin. Mr. Fortner held various management positions at Wal-Mart and Office Max, and served as the County Commissioner from District 5 for the Weakley County Commission for the past ten years. Scott was a deacon of Central Baptist Church.
Scott is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Angela Jolley Fortner, and three sons, Matthew Scott Fortner, Jr. and Zachary Sean Fortner (Kathy), both of Martin, and Nicholas Ryan Fortner (Whitney) of Chattanooga, TN. He is also survived by his loving mother, Doris Crane Fortner, Memphis, TN, formerly of Martin, and sister, Lynne Fortner Albonetti (Mike) of Memphis. Scott leaves his mother-in-law Brenda Harvey (James) of Martin and Larry Jolley (Beckie) of Dresden, two grandchildren, Lily Beth Fortner and Sullivan James Fortner, brothers-in-law Stephen Jolley and Tommy Jolley, sister-in-law Terri Jolley Stone (Steve), seven nieces and nephews, and one great-niece.
