Mr. Robert (Bob) Ellsworth Browne, age 78, of Martin died Sunday, November 15, 2020, at his residence.
Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be Saturday, November 21, 2020; 11:00 A.M. at South Fulton Baptist Church with Rev. Ron Cox officiating.
Mr. Browne is survived by his wife, Jean Hawks Browne; his sons, Rob (Christi) Browne of Martin and Andy Browne of Sharon; seven grandchildren, Lee Roy Browne, Ian Browne, Andrew Browne, Alli Beth Browne, Noah Browne, Josiah Browne and Jonah Browne.
Bob attended Wells High School in Chicago, Illinois and Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana, BA Math and Chemistry. He did graduate studies at Trinity Divinity Seminary in Deerfield, Illinois. He retired with 28 years of service from the Chicago Police Department. He worked with the Fellowship of Christian Police Officers to establish bible studies/support groups in the Chicago area.
After relocating to Tennessee he volunteered 20 years at the Charles Bass Correctional Center and the River Bend Maximum Security Prison conducting bible studies.
In Gallatin, Tennessee Bob served 10 years as Chaplin at the Sumner County jail. During that time the Homeward Bound Program was initiated offering classes to inmates. He taught parenting and family value classes to assist inmates success after released.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Roy Browne and Madeline Taylor Browne; two brothers, John Browne and James Browne.
