Robbie Joe Cherry, age 82, formerly of Martin TN, died June 13, 2012, in St. Petersburg, FL. Mr Cherry was one of 13 brothers and 4 sisters and was born in Calloway County, KY, near Murray. He was a vetran who served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Mr Cherry also served in Air-Defense electronics and worked in Chicago at the Nike Ajax and Nike Hercules missile sights in Worth, IL. Upon leaving the military Mr Cherry worked at the Space Port at Cape Canaveral, FL, and before his retirement purchased a home at St Petersburg,FL, his place of residence at the time of his death.

Mr Cherry worked on Spacecraft that will soon be leaving our solar system and was an electronic instructor and service technician at the Cape.

Mr Cherry is survived by his wife, Louise DeBates Cherry, two sons, Kenny & Jeffery Cherry, one granddaughter, Catherine Cherry, all of St. Petersburg, FL; his two youngest brothers, Bro. Russell Cherry, Palmersville TN, Douglas McArthur Cherry, of Ozark AL, his oldest sister, Mary Carlene Cherry Houghton, Chicago, IL, and younger sister, Nancy Ann Wall, Humbolt, TN.

He was the son of Dr. Edmond Brent Cherry and Lola Brown Cherry,of Martin TN. His remains shall be placed near the family's at Highland Cemetery, Greenfield TN.

Memorial services will be held at Siloam Christian Church- 2 miles north of Dresden TN on Boydsville Rd at 2:00 PM Saturday, 09/01/2012, Brother Nathan Horton and bro. Russell will officate.
