Rex Pate

Mr. Rex M. Pate, age 81, of Martin died Sunday, December 26, 2021, at his home.

Funeral service will be Thursday, December 30, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at the Martin Church of Christ with Bro. John Forgy, Bro. Danny Lamb and Bro. Danny Cash officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 11:30 A.M. until funeral time at 2:00.

Pallbearers are Taylor Pate, Brock Grisham, Keith Harris, Barry Harris, Brian McKelvy, Jeff Wright, Ken Landry and Bill Pate.  Honorary Pallbearers are past and former Mayors and Board of Aldermen of the City of Martin and past and former Elders of the Martin Church of Christ. 

Mr. Pate is survived by his wife, Martha McKelvy Pate; his children, Steve (Danita) Pate of Memphis, TN, Mark (Belinda) Pate of Murfreesboro, TN and Penne (Mark) Guess of Martin; eight grandchildren, Allyson (Ryan) McLean, Taylor (Kelsey) Pate, Amory (Ben) Godley, Olivia (Mark) Blackmon, Morgan Grisham, Brock Grisham, Cole Guess and Chance Farmer; four great-grandchildren, Lynlee McLean, Henry McLean, Judah Godley and Ellie Godley.

Rex was a barber for over 60 years and owned and operated, along with his wife, Hair by Pate in Martin.  He served as an Alderman for the City of Martin over 25 years and served as an Elder at the Martin Church of Christ over 25 years.  He was a graduate of Martin High School and attended Memphis State University.  He was a member of the Martin Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Manning Pate and Nettie Ellen Bond Pate; one brother, William Everett Pate.
