Mrs. Estelle Magness

Mrs. Estelle Brooks Magness, age 97, died Monday, April 9, 2018, in Martin.

Funeral service will be 10:30 A.M. at Murphy Funeral Home on Thursday, April 12, 2018, with Rev. Donald Doster officiating.  Burial to follow in Cate Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Murphy Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Keith Fowler, Chris Fowler, Duane Merritt, Gerald Merritt, Austin Kellough and Scott Fisher.

Mrs. Magness was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Magness; her son, Edward Lynn Magness; parents, James W. Brooks and Clara Hemphill Brooks; brother, Gilbert Brooks.   She is survived by her son, James Magness of Booneville, MS; daughter-in-law, Linda Magness of South Fulton, TN; six grandchildren, Josh Magness, Jason Magness, Amy Jill Magness, Carrie Harris, Parker Magness and Jacquelyn Fielding; six great-grandchildren.

She was a long time member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Mrs. Magness was very proud to be the oldest member of the church.  She retired from Brown Shoe Company and Bay-B-Shoes.  She was a graduate of Martin High School.
