Mr. Thomas L. Erwin
June 19, 1929 — July 26, 2017
Mr. Thomas Leroy Erwin, age 88, died Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at Germantown Methodist Hospital in Memphis.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 29, 2017, 2:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church with Dr. Mike Sams officiating. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery with Military Honors. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church.
The Military will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers are Bryan Hays, Brad Nanney, Justin Stroupe, Chris Smith, Robbie Kroger, Wesley Clark and Art Samartino.
Mr. Erwin was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Ruby Nell Terry Erwin. He is survived by his daughters, Audrey Elise (Ty) Sloan of Germantown, TN, Susie Gail (Terry) Lewis of Martin, Sherri Samartino of Smyrna, TN and Laura Beth (Robert) Allen of Oxford, MS; one sister, Mrs. Mary McConnell of Martin; nine grandchildren, Lisa Sloan Kroger, Jennifer Nanney Hays, Katie Allen Maley, Ginger Sloan Smith, Bradley Nanney, Brittany Nanney Stroupe, Rachel Erwin Clark, Karen Allen Landers and Art Samartino; 15 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Erwin was retired postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Martin. He retired from the Tennessee National Guard and was a member of First Baptist Church.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, Charles Erwin and Ruth McGehee Erwin; his sisters, Mildred Adams, Evangeline Erwin, Virginia West, Florence (Flo) McKeever; brothers, Fred Erwin, Joe Erwin and Charles (Chuck) Erwin.
