Mr. Charles F. Prince

Mr. Charles F. Prince, 84, entered into rest August 15, 2014 at Harbor Chase of Aiken Assisted Living. He had resided in Aiken, SC since 2006.
Before moving to Aiken, he lived in Martin, TN where he was born on July 31, 1930 to Pearl Tomlinson Prince and Marvin Crockett Prince. His loving wife, Carlene Powell Prince, preceded him in death on November 11, 1998. A brother and sister preceded him death, Cecil Prince and Mildred Lynch.
He is survived by a son, Tim Prince (Melody) of Aiken, SC and a daughter Alesia O'Connor (Shane) of Memphis, TN. He had three grandchildren; Brian Prince (Kathy) of North Augusta, SC, Patrick O'Connor (Katy) of Memphis, TN, and Rachel O'Connor of Nashville, TN. He had two great grandchildren, Amanda Murphy Prince and Charles Timothy Prince. He is survived by his sister, Margaret Taylor of Martin, TN.
Mr. Prince was a US Army veteran that served in Korea 1955-1956 in "B" Company 13th Engineering Battalion (C). While in Korea he helped build roads, bridges, and a new chapel. His unit befriended local Korean children at Christmas with a party and presents. He returned home on the USNS Billy Mitchell by way of Japan.
In civilian life he worked for the US Postal Service, becoming the Assistant Postmaster of the Martin post office in 1973. He retired in 1986 after 30 years of dedicated service. He was a member of the Martin City Lodge #551, American Legion Post #55 and a member of Mt. Pelia Baptist Church.
A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 30th at 11:00 A.M. at Eastside Cemetery in Martin, TN, officiated by his son-in-law, Shane O'Connor.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the Weakley County Historical & Genealogical Society, Po Box 894, Martin, TN 38237.
