Mr. Milton Waldrop Dowdy, age 88, of Martin died Wednesday, 03/30/2011, at Obion County Nursing Home in Union City, TN.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 2, 2011, at Murphy Funeral Home; 11:00 A.M. with burial to follow in Stanley's Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, March 31, 2011, from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M.
Mr. Dowdy is survived by his wife, Hazel Cothron Dowdy of Martin; son, Waldrop (Tammy) Dowdy of Union City, TN, sister, Clara Lippard of Brookhaven, MS; daughter-in-law, Linda Jackson Dowdy of Martin; three grandchildren, Allison (Chad) Plunk, Dwayne (Dishell) Dowdy, Erik (Leigh) Dowdy; six great-grandchildren, Walker and Cothron Plunk, Hensleigh and Ardri Clara Dowdy, Bracen and Brentley Gene Dowdy.
Mr. Dowdy was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Dowdy, and son, Roger Dowdy.
Mr. Dowdy was a retired farmer and a member of First United Methodist Church in Martin. He was U.S. Navy - WWII veteran.
