Mike Thompson

Mr. Michael Gean Thompson, age 71, died Sunday, October 27, 2019, at his residence in Martin.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, October 29, 2019, 3:00 P.M. at the Martin Church of Christ with Bro. Ricky Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in Hatlers Chapel Cemetery near Martin.  Visitation will begin Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at the church until funeral time at 3:00.

Pallbearers are Mark Maddox, Johnny Vincent, Lawrence Cavin, David Napper, Calvin Laney and Wes McClure.  Honorary Pallbearers are Mike Smothers, Kenny Davidson, George Crawford, Gary Crawford, Don Smothers, David Durham and Keim Yates.

Mr. Thompson is survived by his wife, Shelia Walker Thompson; his daughter, Christel Laney both of Martin; his son, Michael (Michele) Thompson of Clinton, Maine; his father-in-law, T. Joe Walker of Martin; seven grandchildren, Ryan (Leicia) Thompson, Kyle Thompson, Bo Guest, Bailey Thompson, Jack Thompson, Miranda McKee and Chase McKee; three great-grandchildren, Bradley, Landon and Parker.

Mike was retired from Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company.  He was the chairman of the Weakley County Public Records Committee and a 1966 graduate of Martin High School.  He was a member of the Martin Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Joey Guest and Brad Thompson, one grandchild, Johnathan Thompson; parents, Herbert Thompson and June Oliver Thompson; sister, Marsha Thompson and mother-in-law, Verna Walker.
