Merlyn Virginia Borden

December 13, 1931 — November 9, 2017

Merlyn Davis Borden (85) passed away at 2:10 pm in her son’s home located in Martin, TN. She was the daughter of the late Floyd and Edna Davis. She was born and raised in Indiana. She graduated from West Point High school in 1950 and went to work at Purdue University.
While working at Purdue, she met and married her husband Marvin Borden. They moved to a farm in Peru, Indiana. It was a busy time getting crops in the field and doing other chores. They had a son, Milo, and two years later a daughter, Wendy. Farming was her life she was always busy with crops, church, Farm Bureau, the fair, school activities, gardening, canning and freezing produce.
When Marvin was thinking of retiring and Milo and Wendy were in college, Merlyn fulfilled a lifelong dream and entered nursing school, graduating in 1973. After working at a doctor’s office for 3 years she retired from Grissom Air Force Base 1983. In 2002 Merlyn moved to Martin, Tennessee to be close to her son and his family, wife Shirley and grandson Matthew.
Merlyn was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, two brothers and four sisters.

Funeral service will be Monday, November 13, 2017, 12:00 Noon at the First United Methodist Church in Martin with Rev. Randy Cooper officiating. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. for one hour prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2017, 12:00 Noon in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Peru, Indiana.
