Mr. Max Harold Walker of Martin, age 91, died Thursday, July 21, 2016, at Tennova Healthcare Volunteer Hospital.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, July 23, 2016, 1:00 P.M. at Central Baptist Church in Martin with Judge Tommy Moore officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday at the church until funeral time at 1:00.
Pallbearers will be Charlie Davis, Lee Dortch, Shawn Miles, Seth Mitchell, Bobby Hathcock, Bobby Brown, Waldrop Dowdy and Clift Parks. Honorary Pallbearers will be Lee Tatum, Charles Dailey, Billy Gene Wagster, Todd Hampton and Stan Baker.
Mr. Walker was preceded in death by his wife, Elwanda Freeman Walker; his son, William Franklin Walker; parents, Thomas Earl Walker and Lillie Hall Walker; sisters, Mable Louise Highfill and Fannie Davis; brothers, Thomas Hall Walker, Joe Charles Walker and James Randall (Pete) Walker.
Mr. Walker was a retired lineman for South Central Bell Telephone Company. He was a graduate of Martin High School and a member of Central Baptist Church in Martin. He was a member of Martin City Lodge #551 for 62 years and was a WW II veteran; U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his daughter, Darlene (Lee) Tatum and his son, John Mark Walker both of Martin; one grandchild, Christy Lee (Justin) Coffman; one step-grandchild, Jayson Miles Sprouse; two great-grandchildren, Seth Karson Mitchell and Drake Liam Coffman; four step great-grandchildren, D.J. Coffman, Pamela Marie Coffman; Kenleigh Eve Sprouse and Summer Camille Sprouse.
