Mary Lucille Bell

March 28, 1925 — January 12, 2016

Mrs. Mary Lucille Bell, age 90, died Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Germantown Methodist Hospital in Memphis. Known as "Lucy" by her coworkers and friends she retired from Vowell & Sons Lumber Company in Martin where she worked for 25 years as a bookkeeper. She had an extraordinary work ethic believing in never missing a day of work and earning her paycheck each and everyday.

Lucy was preceded in death by her precious husband, Dewitt Bell. Their relationship was a testimony to commitment and working through the ups and downs of life. Together they had one daughter, Debra Bell Gates who resides in Memphis with her husband Mike Gates. Lucy has one granddaughter, Whitney Wright and her husband Nolan Wright living in Nashville.

Most recently Lucy became a "GG" to her first great-grandchild, Nolan Donald Wright. She loved holding "Baby Nolan" and commenting on what a genius he is. Family relationships and church were of utmost importance to Lucy but many of her family had preceded her in death; her parents, Roy L. and Verna Prince and three brothers, John Richard Prince, Wayne Prince and Roy Prince, Jr. She was a member of the former Southside Baptist Church in Martin.

Lucy's house was the meeting place for many family dinners and holiday celebrations over the years. She will be missed.
