Mrs. LaVerne Brown Simmons, age 98, of Martin died Monday, February 13, 2012, at Weakley County Nursing and Rehab Center in Dresden.
Funeral service will be Thursday, February 16, 2012, at Murphy Funeral Home; 11:00 A.M. with burial to follow in Cane Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2012, at the funeral home; 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.
Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey B. Simmons; her parents, Emerson Ethridge Brown and Rosa Ross Brown.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace Prince of Nashville, TN; her sons, Paul Simmons of Louisville, KY and David Simmons of St. Louis, MO; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Simmons was a retired sales representative for Electrolux Corportion. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin.
Memorials requested to Union University or The University of Tennessee at Martin.
