Laura Jo Hurst

Mrs. Laura Josephine (Laura Jo) Hurst, age 91, died Tuesday, September 17, 2019, at Weakley County Nursing and Rehab Center in Dresden.

Funeral service will be Friday, September 20, 2019, 1:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Martin with Rev. Randy Cooper officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday beginning at 11:00 A.M. at the church until funeral time at 1:00.

Mrs. Hurst was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Hurst; her daughter, Judith Anne Gonsowski; parents, Abe Burchard and Josephine Everett Burchard.

Mrs. Hurst retired as the head secretary for the Memphis City School System.  She was a graduate of Martin High School and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin.

She is survived by her daughters, Laura Duerr of Martin and Carolyn Jones of Destin, FL; two sons, Greg Duerr of Memphis and Andrew Duerr of Cordova, TN; step-daughter, Becky Hurst Bilbra of Knoxville; nine grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great great-grandchildren.
