Johnny Tuck

July 6, 1936 — August 17, 2024

John David (Johnny) Tuck, age 88 of Martin, TN died Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Van Ayer Nursing and Rehab, Martin, TN.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Murphy Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry Powell and Dr. Mike Sams officiating, with burial following at Eastside Cemetery, Martin.  Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 on Tuesday night, August 20, and on Wednesday morning at 10:00 until service time.

Pallbearers will be Josh Tuck, Caleb Tuck, Kent Powell, Barry Tuck, Larry Brewer and Dennis Johnson.  Honorary Pallbearers are the special healthcare workers at Martin Fresenius Dialysis Center, Martin.  David Williamson, Kirk Ferrell, Jason Johnson, Aaron Williams, Matt Judge and Lent Skinner.

Johnny was preceded in death by his infant son John David Tuck, Jr., his son, Dwight Tuck, his mother, Mabel Good Tuck, his dad, Jesse O.L. Tuck, his brother, Robert Tuck, and his sister, Jean Tuck Bullington.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Bonnie Andrews Tuck, his son David Andrew Tuck (Lisha), two grandchildren Josh (Jessica) Tuck and Caleb Tuck, and three great-grandchildren, Kemper Tuck, Addy Tuck, and Lucas Greer.

Johnny and his family are so appreciative to the health care workers for their special care during his illness at Van Ayer Nursing Home and Rehab, Martin.

Johnny graduated from Martin High School, where he loved basketball.  He enjoyed officiating basketball for 11 years.  Johnny started working at Martin Pepsi Cola Company at about 12 years old, working with his father.  He later managed the Marion Pepsi Cola Plant in Martin.  When the company closed the plant, he owned and operated Johnny's Cash and Carry in downtown Martin.  He later went back to Marion Pepsi Cola, Marion, Illinois as a trouble shooter.  He managed the Coca Cola Plant in Union City, TN, for 11 years before retirement.  Johnny also served 8 years as Alderman of the City of Martin.

Johnny was a charter member of Southside Baptist Church in 1956, where he served as a deacon.  At his death, he was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin, TN.
