John Edward McCluskey, Ph.D., age 83, of Martin died Friday, August 16, 2013, at Weakley County Nursing and Rehab Center in Dresden, TN.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 22, 2013, at Murphy Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.
Dr. McCluskey is survived by his wife, Virginia Laun McCluskey of Martin; four sons, Mark McCluskey of Memphis, Matthew McCluskey of Boston, MA, Robert McCluskey of Martin and Frank (Ruth) McCluskey of Ashland, MO; two daughters, Shaun Marie (Andrew) MacDavid of West Cornwell, CT and Amanda (Peter) Schwob of Oak Park, IL; five grandchildren.
Dr. McCluskey was preceded in death by his parents, Edward James McCluskey and Norma Clair Scott McCluskey.
Dr. McCluskey was the former chairman of the Department of English at UTM for 15 years. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University, his masters degree from Columbia University and his Ph.D. from Michigan State University. He was U. S. Air Force/Korean conflict.
