Mr. John Gilbert Billingsby, age 83, of Dresden died Tuesday, August 18, 2015, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, Tennessee.
Funeral Service will be Saturday, August 22, 2015, 11:00 A.M. at Hatler's Chapel Church of Christ with Dr. Rodger Eakin and Carl Harper officiating. Burial will follow in Hatler's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, August 21, 2015, from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M. at Hatler's Chapel, or after 9:00 A. M. Saturday at the church until funeral time at 11:00 A.M.
Mr. Billingsby is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joyce Ann Culbertson Billingsby of Dresden; his daughters, Natalie Ann Billingsby of Nashville and Sherry Lynn (J.C.) Stinson of Elkhorn, NE; his sons, Scott Crosser Billingsby of Nashville and John Michael (Laurie Wilson) Billingsby of Dickson, TN; sisters, Sue (Carl) Harper of Franklin, TN and Reggie Roney of Smiths Grove, KY; seven grandchildren, Barrett (Stephanie) Brewer, Sarah, Megan, Leah and John Garrett Billingsby, Brett and Daniel Stinson; one great- grandson, Jackson Brewer.
He was an active farmer of a Heritage farm that has been in the Billingsby family since 1830. Additional occupations included managing a polo farm in Hartland, Michigan and working for General Motors in Detroit, Michigan. Mr. Billingby was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert L. Billingsby and Ida Mae Crosser Billingsby; brothers, Flavil, Howard and Dink Billingsby; two sisters, Anna Lou Storey and Pauline Walker.
