Joe Woodruff

Mr. Billy Joe Woodruff, age 86, dies Saturday, May 2, 2015, at his home.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 5, 2015, 3:00 P.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with burial to follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday until funeral time at 3:00 P.M.

Mr. Woodruff is survived by his wife, Maurine Bell Woodruff of Martin; his daughter, Lisa Jo Woodruff of Los Angeles, CA; his son, Lamar (Judy) Woodruff of Memphis; two step-sons, James Russell (Carol) Abernathy and Randy Lee (Claudette) Abernathy both of Union City, TN; Joseph R. (Micah) Woodruff and Lori Michelle Dood; two great-grandchildren, Jax Dood and Jami Dood; one step-grandson, Shane Lee Abernathy.

Mr. Woodruff was a former General Chairman of Illinois Central Gulf Railroad. He was a member of Martin Masonic Lodge (Past Master), American Legion Post #69 and he was a former alderman for the City of Martin. He was a veteran, U.S. Navy WW II, and a member of First Baptist Church in Martin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Rufus Woodruff and Mamon Prince Woodruff.
