Joe Smith

Mr. Joseph "Joe" D. Smith, age 80, of Martin died Friday, August 26, 2022, at Jackson Madison County Hospital.

Memorial Service and Celebration of Life with Military Honors will be Thursday, September 1, 2022, 6:00 P.M. at the Gardner Church of Christ in Martin.  Visitation will be Thursday beginning at 5:00 P.M. at the church until service time.

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife, Faye Crittendon Smith of Martin; his daughter, Valerie (Lexie) Dean of Martin; his son, Mike Smith of Williamsburg, Virginia; six grandchildren, Steve (Amber) Arnold, Tory (RJ) Smith, Matt (Kristen) Dean, Kala (Cory) Phillips, Peighton Smith and Madison Smith; 10 great-grandchildren, Ryan Dean, Madelyn Dean, Landon Dean, Freddie Martin, Caylee Phillips, Averie Phillips, Barrett Phillips, Jessie Arnold, Teller Smith and Addison Smith.  Joe is survived by many nieces and nephews.

Joe retired from Schwan's.  He was a 1960 graduate of Martin High School and a member of Gardner Church of Christ.  He was a retired Command Sgt. Major for the Tennessee National Guard. 

He was preceded in death by his daughter and his son, Vickie Smith and Joe David Smith; his parents, Herman Smith and Mamie Smith; two sisters, Mildred Barber and Dolly Brewer; three brothers, Paul Smith, Thomas Smith and Melvin Smith.
