Mr. John "Jack" Brooks of Coffeyville, Kansas, formerly of Martin, died October 27, 2012 at his residence.
A Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will take place in East Side Cemetery at 11:00 A.M. Friends may assemble in the cemetery at 10:45 A.M.
Mr. Brooks is survived by his daughter Jann Brooks Pendry and her husband Charles of Palm Beach, FL, grandson Jack Brooks Pendry of Lawrence, KS, granddaughter Jane Dibrell Pendry of Palm Beach, FL, and a sister, Beverly Brooks Temple of Lawrence, KS. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Emma Jane Staton Brooks; his daughter Jacqueline Sue Brooks; his parents, Mamie McMillion Brooks and John L. Brooks.
Mr. Brooks graduated from mortuary school in St. Louis, Missouri and began work at the Ford Funeral Home in Coffeyville. In 1962, Mr. Brooks began employment at the Acme Foundry and Machine Company, where he became vice president and a principal owner. He retired from Acme in 1987.
Mr. Brooks was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Coffeyville, Kansas.
