Hazel Johnson Merryman

Mrs. Hazel Johnson Merryman, age 92, of Martin died Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Martin Health Care.

Funeral service will be Saturday, January 8, 2011, at Murphy Funeral Home; 2:30 P.M. Burial to follow in Greenlea Cemetery in Fulton, KY. Visitation will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday for 2 1/2 hours prior to funeral service at 2:30 P.M.

Mrs. Merryman was the daughter of Martin and Maggie Austin Johnson. She graduated from Lexington High School and earned an Associate Degree from West Tennessee Business College. Mrs. Merryman retired from the University of Tennessee at Martin as an administrative secretary and payroll clerk. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Bob Carroll Sunday School Class.

Mrs. Merryman is survived by her daughter, Judith Pouncey; her daughter-in-law, Janice Merryman; her brother, James (Oleta) Johnson; five grandchildren, Kelly Kimball, Laura Brown, Ashley May, Alison Vaughn, Kevin Foley; eight great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland Merryman; her son, Phillip Merryman; and two sisters, Grapel Evans and Exie Green.
