Coach Grover L. Page was born on December 21, 1933 in Clearwater, South Carolina, the son of the late James and Birdie Page
He was united in marriage to Patricia Peterson on March 9, 1955.
Coach Page graduated from North Augusta High School in South Carolina and earned a football scholarship to Georgia Military College. He finished his education and football career at The University of Wyoming and was part of the 1956 Sun Bowl Champion Team.
After receiving his commission, he served in the U.S. Army Paratrooper Division at Fort Benning, Georgia.
In 1959 he became a member of the UTMB football staff where he joined former Wyoming teammate , Head Coach Robert Carroll and Ross Elder on the staff. He served as offensive line coach for 15 years.
In 1967 he started the first golf team at UTM and continued as coach until 2001. His teams were nationally ranked and featured several All Americans and Academic All Americans.
He taught in the physical education department from 1959 until the late 1980's.
He was inducted into the UTM Sports Hall of Fame in 2002. He served and retired from the Tennessee Army National Guard at the rank of Captain.
Coach Page departed this life on December 17th at the age of 88, four days short of his 89th birthday.
He leaves behind his wife of 67 years, Pat Page of Martin, TN; two sons, Joe (Melissa) Page of Selmer, TN and Jim Page of Columbia, SC, and one daughter, Laurie Ann Britt of Lexington, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by three sisters, Aditha Hartzog, Delores Jones and Eloise Page. He is survived by two sisters, Kathryn Bolen and Jimmie Gunter.
He leaves behind five grandchildren, Danielle (Austin) Ochs of Wichita, KS, Shelby (McKenlee) Randolph of Fountain Inn, SC, BJ Poiner of Lexington, SC, Mary Lauren (Daniel) Teague of Brentwood, TN and Blair (Hunter) Vincent of Nolensville, TN.
He is survived by six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He leaves behind many former players, both football and golf, that have remained in touch with him through the years and formed great friendships.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martin and of the American Legion Post #55.

Funeral Service will be Monday, December 19, 2022; 1:00 P.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Robert Barger officiating. Burial to follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday at the funeral home beginning at 11:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00.
Pallbearers are Jerry Carpenter, BJ Poiner, Chris Pierce, Mark Florence, Ray Scott and McKenlee Randolph. Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Carroll, Dale Overton, Deslonde Collins, Pat Nanney, Jr., Billy Watson, Robbie Baird, Mike Coffren and Danny Beard.
In Lieu of flowers, the family request Memorials be made to the Grover Page Endowment Fund for golf, or the UTM Football Team.
