Gordon Morris

Mr. Gordon Morris, age 82, of Sidonia Road, Sharon, TN, died Saturday, November 30, 2019, at Diversicare in Martin.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, December 4, 2019, 3:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Cooper and Rev. Phillip Cook officiating.  Burial will follow in Tansil Cemetery in Sharon.  Visitation will be Tuesday, December 3, 2019, from 4:00 P.M - 7:00 at Murphy Funeral Home, or after 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday at the church until service time at 3:00.

Mr. Morris was a retired Biology Professor at The University of Tennessee at Martin.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin.  He was a graduate of Gleason High School, Bethel University and Murray State University.  He received his doctorate at the The University of Tennessee in Knoxville.  He served on the Weakley County School Board from 1987 - 2018 and served as chairman of the school board from 1993 - 2016.  He was a veteran, U.S. Army.

Mr. Morris is survived by his wife, Paula Allen Morris of Sharon; two daughters, Melanie Morris, Buchanan, TN, and Leslie (Dymitr) Wach, Sharon, TN; one son, Allen Morris of Sharon.

Mr. Morris was preceded in death by his sisters, Marjorie June Cook and Evelyn Tucker; a brother, Thomas Ray Morris, and his parents, Hughlon Allen and Georgia Jewel Brawner Morris.
