Gerald Merritt

Mr. Gerald Ray Merritt, age 69, passed from this life on Sunday, January 17, 2021, due to complication from Covid-19 pneumonia.  Gerald passed away at the Henry County Medical Center in Paris, Tennessee.

Funeral service will be Wednesday, January 20, 2021, 2:00 P.M. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Norton and Rev. David Freeman officiating.  Burial will follow in Cate Cemetery in Martin.  Visitation with the family will be held at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church beginning at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, three hours prior to the funeral service.  The family request masks be worn for the visitation and the service.

Mr. Merritt is survived by his wife, Glenda Overcast Merritt of Martin; two sons, Chris (Melissa) Merritt of Martin and Kyle (Jeff) Merritt of Nolensville, TN; his brother and sister, Duane (Linda) Merritt and Gwen Merritt Hodges both of Martin; three grandchildren, Grace Ann Merritt, Jack Merritt and Merritt Bush.

Gerald was a retired General Manager of Mar-Tenn Country Hams in Martin.  He was retired from the Tennessee National Guard and a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  Gerald was a 1970 graduate of Martin High School.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Maxel Merritt and Gaynell Peery Merritt.
