Gerald Ernest Bell

Mr. Gerald Ernest Bell, age 80, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at Jackson-Madison County General Hospital.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at Murphy Funeral Home; 1:00 P.M.  Burial will follow in Shady Grove Cemetery near Union City.  Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

Mr. Bell in survived by his wife, Lamer Wood (Crickett) Bell of Martin; his daughter, Debbie (Tommy) Smith of Clinton, KY; his brother, Roy Bell of Lakeland, FL; sister, Letha Carter of Las Vegas; two grandchildren, Mary Sue Seratt of Dyersburg, TN and Joe Byrd of Union City, TN; two great-grandchildren, James Tully Moore and Will Thomas Moore both of Dyersburg, TN; half brothers, Lloyd Bell of Palmersville, TN, Bill Bell of Union City, TN and John Bell, Jr. of Indiana; half sisters, Judy Bell and Kay Bell both of North Carolina;  step-sons, Danny (Charlie) Boyd of South Fulton, TN and Bobby (Diane) Boyd of Clinton, KY; step-daughters, Peggy Adams of Murray, KY and Linda Butler of Mayfield, KY; 11 step-grandchildren and 19 step great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, John Ernest Bell and Valley Moore Bell; his son, Steve Bell; sister, Dorothy Forrester; half brother, Kenny Bell; step-sons, Kenneth Boyd and Billy Boyd.

Mr. Bell formerly worked at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company and retired from The University of Tennessee at Martin.
