Evelyn Schroeder Bynum

September 23, 1931 — July 2, 2010

Evelyn Schroeder Bynum, age 78, a resident of Martin, departed this life on July 2, 2010. She and her late sister, Elsie Boylan, were born in Fairview, NJ to the late Henry and Anna (Arzonico) Schroeder. Evelyn moved with her young family to the west Tennessee area in 1956, and to Martin in 1973 where she was a resident for 37 years. After raising her 10 children, she worked in food services at Cane Creek Rehabilitation Center until her retirement in 2001.

Evelyn lived a life filled with the love of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. An excellent cook, she took great pride in her Italian family recipes as well as her traditional Southern dishes. She was an avid reader and an enormous sports fan, especially her Cubs and Steelers.

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Bob and wife Laurie Rowley, Tom and wife Sandy, Jimmy and his wife Tenna, Kim Waters and husband Hugh Waters, Donna Taylor and fiancee Ricky Price, Drew and wife Angela, Barry and wife Amy Bynum, Gary and partner Keith Durbin, Janie Dellinger and husband Ronnie Dellinger, and Brad and his wife Angie.

Grandchildren: Brittany Kendall and husband Deshon Kendall, Kyle Peery, Matthew Bynum and wife Valerie, Danielle Patton and her husband DeAngelo Patton, Cody Bynum, Lauren Bynum, Tyler Bynum, Sarah Ellis and husband Shay Ellis, Brian Taylor, Hollye Bynum, Ashley Bynum, Alex Bynum, Hunter Bynum, Madison Dellinger, Zoey Bynum.

Great-grandchildren: Kaleigh Bynum, DJ Kendall, Elijah Young, Hallee Young, Dylan Bynum, Hayden Beasley

As well as three nephews, a niece and many many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and sister as well as a son Jerry, who passed away at 6 weeks old, and 2 children lost at birth.

Visitation will be held Sunday, July 4th at Murphy Funeral Home,5:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. A celebration of Evelyn's life will be held on Monday, July 5th at Murphy Funeral Home,11:00 A.M. immediately followed by burial at Martin memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to either the Susan G. Komen Cancer Center or the Residents Fund at the Martin Healthcare Center.
