Elmer W. Counce

Mr. Elmer W. Counce, age 90, of Martin died Tuesday, March 13, 2012, at Volunteer Community Hospital.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 17, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Martin; 2:00 P.M. Burial to follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday at the church beginning at 12:00 Noon until funeral time at 2:00 P.M.

Mr. Counce is survived by his wife, Marilucile Dodd Counce of Martin; son, Ben Counce of Caruthersville, MO; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Mr. Counce was preceded in death by his parents, James Ephraim Counce and Emma Duncan Counce; brother, J.E. Counce; sisters, Marietta Johnson and Martha Duncan.

Mr. Counce retired from The University of Tennessee at Martin/Agriculture Department. He was a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He was a member of Martin City Lodge #551 and The American Legion Post #69. He was a U.S. Coast Guard World War II veteran and a member of the First United Methodist Church in Martin. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity; a 50th year member of FFA and an honorary member of Alpha Zeta Fraternity.
