Effie Wright

August 1, 1924 — December 10, 2019

Effie Bradley Wright peacefully passed away on December 10, 2019 at The Arbors in Union City.  She was born at her parents' home in Terrell on August 1, 1924 and was welcomed home by two brothers Coley and John.  She was the daughter of Coley and Johnnie Bradley.  She graduated from Rives High School and Business College at Union City.

She married the love of her life, James Preston Wright on August 18, 1946.  They were blessed to celebrate 50 happy years of marriage before his death in September 1996.  They lived in Memphis while J.P. attended the Southern College of Optometry from 1948-1950.  Effie worked part time at his practice when they returned to Martin.  She was the mother of two sons both who were blessed to grow up in a loving home.

Effie was very active and liked to play golf, bridge, exercise and was a great cook.  Many were blessed to receive a homemade coffee cake when they moved to Martin.  She was an active member of the Martin Church of Christ where she will be remembered for her devotion to the Lord and steadfast faith and for making delicious pies and homemade fudge.

She is survived by her sons, Don Wright (Linda) of Martin and Alan Wright (Vicki) of Nashville.  She was affectionally known as "Nonnie" to five grandchildren:  Brittan (Aaron) Knott of Martin, Jonathan (Jenifer) Helm of Nashville, Bradley (Adam) Ferrarini of Brooklyn, NY; Meg (Mike) Hathaway of Phoenix, AZ; and Jake (Colleen) Wright of Nashville.  Nonnie also leaves behind eight great-grandchildren: Charlie Sutherland and Preston Knott of Martin, Grayson and Garrett Helm of Nashville, Laine and Marion Ferrarini of Brooklyn and Caroline and Ellie Hathaway of Phoenix.

Funeral service will be Friday, December 13, 2019, 1:00 P.M. at the Martin Church of Christ with Bro. Ricky Phillips officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation will be Friday at the church beginning at 11:00 A.M. until funeral time at 1:00.
