Dr. David D. Jones

Dr. David Douglas Jones, age 70, of Martin died Thursday, January 6, 2022, at his residence.

Funeral service will be Sunday, January 9, 2022, 2:30 P.M. at First Baptist Church in Martin with Dr. Roger S. Oldham officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday beginning at 1:00 P.M. at the church until funeral time at 2:30.

Pallbearers are Wendell Cates, Paul Nielsen, Joe Exum, Jeff Walker, Dr. Mike Hinds and John High.  Honorary Pallbearers are Donald Ray High, Jerry Carpenter, Jonathan Fant, David Hawks, Jimmy Hatchel, George Ellis, Phil Brooks and Ken Cavin.

Dr. Jones is survived by his wife, Donna Laney Jones of Martin; his daughter, Lauren Jones of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; his mother, Janette High Jones of Martin.

He was a retired physician where he served the community from 1984-2017.  David was a 1969 graduate of Martin High School and a 1973 graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin.  He graduated from The University of Tennessee Memphis College of Medicine.  David was a faithful member of First Baptist Church where he was an ordained deacon, choir member and Sunday School teacher. 

David was an avid golfer.  He loved to read and watch Cardinal Baseball and all University of Tennessee sports.

He was an officer in the United States Navy where he served in Diego Garcia an island off the British Indian Ocean.  

Memorials requested to the First Baptist Church Choir, First Baptist Church Building Fund or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Family request face mask be worn to the funeral service.
