Dottie Smith

Mrs. Dorothy Claudia (Dottie) Smith, age 90, of Martin died Wednesday, 12/07/2011, at Gibson County General Hospital in Trenton, Tennessee.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 10, 2011, at First Baptist Church in Martin; 11:00 A.M., burial to follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, December 9, 2011, at Murphy Funeral Home from 4:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M., or after 9:00 A.M. Saturday at the church until funeral time at 11:00 A.M.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harold J. Smith, Dean Emeritus of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences, of Martin; daughters, Claudia (Mike) Nanney of Martin and Cindy (Mark) Cooper of Sharon; five grandchildren, Johnny (Keely) Nanney, Shawn Nanney, Dareth (Bradley) Davis, Becky (David) Jackson and Chad (Deanna) Cooper; and seven great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeane Waters of Sprott, Alabama and Frances Smoot of Montgomery, Alabama.

Ms. Dottie was preceded in death by her parents, Reuben Watters and Claude Bolling Watters.

Ms. Dottie was a homemaker and a graduate of Livingston College. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin.
