Chris Merritt

Mr. Chris Merritt age 52, a resident of Martin, Tn, passed away on March 8, 2025, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, TN

Chris was born in Martin, TN on September 5, 1972, to the late Gerald Ray and Glenda Overcast Merritt of Martin, TN.

Chris married his wife, Melissa Brown on June 26, 1993, at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church 
where he was a very active member, serving as a Deacon and on various committees throughout the years.

Chris worked as an MST Department Manager at Lowes in Union City, Tn, and he was very active at The University of Tennessee at Martin where he ran the football scoreboard and kept the Men's and Women's basketball team books and sports information desk.
An avid University of Tennessee Vols fan, he also enjoyed coaching Youth league baseball and basketball for years.
Chris was known for being " The King of Dad jokes!"

He is survived by his wife, Melissa Brown Merritt of Martin, TN; his children, GraceAnn Merritt and Jack Merritt, one granddaughter; Gianna Joy all of Martin, TN, a brother; Kyle (Jeff) Merritt and a niece; Merritt Bush all of Nolensville, TN, and his mother, Glenda Overcast Merritt of Martin, TN.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at 3:00pm at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Martin, TN 
Visitation will be held at the church from 11:00 am until the hour of service. 
Burial to follow in Cate Cemetery in Martin, TN.
