Charles E. Pounds

July 25, 1924 — November 12, 2018

Mr. Charles Edwin Pounds, age 94, died Monday, November 12, 2018, at Van Ayer Healthcare and Rehab in Martin.

Funeral service will be Thursday, November 15, 2018, 1:00 P.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Cooper officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will begin at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday at the funeral home until service time at 1:00.

Mr. Pounds was preceded in death by his wife, Mildred Giles Pounds and his wife, Joyce Pounds; his daughter, Paula Pounds Hood; his parents, Hulon Odell Pounds and Jessie Mae Chappell Pounds.

Mr. Pounds owned and operated Martin Laundry and Dry Cleaners.  He was also a purchasing agent for Lovelace-Farmer Wholesale and Institutional Distributors.  He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martin and a graduate of Martin High School.   He was a veteran, U.S. Army WW II.

He is survived by his daughters, Pam (Hal) Williamson of Martin and Peggy (Terry) Mansfield of Montgomery, AL; son, Lanis (Jacquie) Henry of Cummings, Ga; five grandchildren, Drew Hood, Will (Tori) Hood, Holly Mansfield, Jeremy (Sarah)Mansfield and Bryan Henry.

Mr. Pounds played the saxophone in many different bands for over 80 years.  He traveled all 50 states in his lifetime.
