Mr. Charles Ailian Vowell, Jr., age 70, of Martin died Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at Jackson Madison County Hospital.
Funeral Service will be Friday, May 29, 2015, at First Baptist Church in Martin; 12:00 Noon. Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, May 28, 2015, at Murphy Funeral Home from 5:00 P.M. - 8:00 P.M., or beginning at 11:00 A.M. on Friday at the church until funeral time at 12:00 Noon.
Mr. Vowell is survived by his wife, Darleen Mitchell Vowell of Martin; his son, Benjamin (Jessica) Vowell of Medina, TN; his daughters, Brandy (Dierk) Seifert of Kathleen, Georgia and Julie Ann Tansil (Vincent) Trejo of Woodstock, Georgia; his sister, Kay Vowell (Johnny) Fung of Gulfport, MS; two granddaughters, Alexandra Trejo and Isabel Trejo; two nephews, Chris (Jennifer) Courtright of Killingworth, CT and Chad Courtright of Nashville, TN; one great-nephew, Hunter Courtright.
Mr. Vowell worked for the City of Martin for 32 years where he retired as Public Works Director. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin, American Legion Post #69, Past Patron of Bob Reavis #71 Order of the Eastern Star, Past Master of Martin City Lodge, a Shriner, Eagle Scout and a graduate of The University of Tennessee at Martin. He served 25 years in the Army National Guard and retired as a Master Sergeant.
Mr. Vowell was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Ailian Vowell, Sr. and Kay Vowell.
