Casey Cameron Dunagan died on November 30, 2011, in Fairfax, Virginia after a brief illness. He was born on May 31, 1977, in Martin, Tennessee and died at the age of 34. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Bentley-Smith Dunagan and their son Patrick Thomas Dunagan; his parents, Dr. and Mrs. Nick Dunagan of Martin; his brother, Dr. Stan Dunagan of Paris, Tennessee and his wife, Stephanie; his sister, Tracy Vander Meeden of Jackson, Mississippi and her husband, Brett; and his brother, Cody Dunagan of Florence, Alabama and his wife, Glenna.

Casey was a 1995 graduate of Westview High School, and a 2002 graduate of Mississippi State University in Industrial Engineering. While at MSU he held several leadership positions for Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity, and was a recipient of the College of Engineering Senate internship in the office of Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott. After graduation from MSU he worked in Angola, Africa for Schlumberger as an engineer on off shore oil rigs. Following his work in Africa, he enrolled at the University of Maryland (UMD) and completed his Masters degree in Engineering and Public Policy in 2008. Upon graduation he received a Presidential Management Fellowship and was a Program Analyst for the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement in the Department of the Interior. He is a member of the Association of Energy Engineers and Young Government Leaders. While at UMD, he met the love of his life, Elizabeth who is pursuing a PHD in American Politics and Arts Policy. They were married January 15, 2010, and blessed by the birth of Patrick on June 6, 2011.

Casey had a keen sense of humor, loved to travel in both the US and internationally, be with his Dunagan family and Elizabeth's extended family in her home State of Louisiana, and talk to his son about politics and sports. He was passionate about Mississippi State football and St. Louis Cardinal baseball.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-9:00 pm on Friday, December 9 at the Dunagan Alumni Center on the campus of The University of Tennessee at Martin. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Martin, Tennessee, on Saturday, December 10 at 3:00 pm. The family will arrive at the church at 2:00 pm one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family asks that friends make contributions in lieu of flowers to: (1) the INOVA Blood Services (Fairfax, VA; 866-256-6372) or their local blood collection facility in Casey's name in the form of blood donations; (2) the City of Martin, Department of Parks and Recreation, Casey Dunagan Memorial fund, 109 University St., Martin, TN, 38237; or (3) a scholarship fund for Patrick Dunagan (Navy Federal Credit Union, Merrifield, VA 22119).
