Mr. Robert "Bob" Smyth Holman, age 88, of Trenton, TN died Thursday, January 14, 2016, in Longmont, Colorado, near Boulder, Colorado.
Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, January 20, 2016, at the Trenton First United Methodist Church in Trenton, Tennessee at 1:00 P.M. A visitation with the family will take place at the conclusion of the service.
Mr. Holman is survived by his wife, Berlynne Bradley Holman of Trenton; his daughter, Leigh Holman-Johnson and son-in-law, Doyle James Johnson both of Boulder, Colorado; his brother, James Willis Holman of Trenton, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Before retirement he owned and operated Ben Franklin Family Center in Trenton. He was an alderman with the City of Trenton, served on the Industrial Board of Trenton, Director of Citizens State Bank Board, Commissioner on Gibson County Utility Board. He sponsored Little League baseball and gave himself to community service. He was a graduate of Martin High School where he was a star football player. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Trenton and Trenton First United Methodist Church. He was a veteran; U.S. Army World War II, stationed in Japan. After his service time he attended and played football for The University of Tennessee Junior College.
Mr. Holman was preceded in death by his parents, Marcus Randolph Holman and Isabella Everett Holman; one sister, Mary Margaret Holman Poyner.
