Billy Frank Cate

Mr. Billy Frank Cate, age 93, died Monday, September 7, 2015, at Van Ayer Healthcare and Rehab in Martin.

Memorial Service and Celebration of Life will be Thursday, September 10, 2015, 12:00 Noon at the First United Methodist Church in Martin with Rev. Randy Cooper officiating. Visitation with the family will begin at 10:00 A.M.

Mr. Cate was preceded in death by his wife, Patti Sue Vowell Cate; his parents, William Calvin Cate and Judson Parrish Cate; one brother, Judson Calvin (J.C.) Cate; one sister, Janie Daye Cate; his daughter-in-law, Carol Wright Cate.

Mr. Cate was a veteran with naval service in the Pacific in WWII, retiring from the U.S. Air Force in 1968. After his military career he worked and retired from Vowell and Sons in Martin. He attended The University of Tennessee Junior College where he played football. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Martin and was an avid supporter of UT Martin athletics.

He is survived by his son, William (Bill) Cate of Indialantic, Florida; his daughter, Cathy Cate of Martin; two grandchildren, Wesley (Anna) Cate of West Melbourne, Florida and Sarah Cate of Memphis; one great-grandson, Douglas William Cate, one nephew, Ronald Cate of St. Augustine, Florida.
