Betty Zimmerman

Mrs. Betty Joyce Franklin Zimmerman, age 83, died Monday, March 22, 2021, at her residence in Martin.

Funeral service will be Saturday, March 27, 2021, 11:30 A.M. at Murphy Funeral Home with Rev. Larry Reagan officiating.  Burial will follow in East Side Cemetery.  Visitation will be Saturday beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home until service time.

Mrs. Zimmerman was born on March 8, 1938, in Monticello, KY, the daughter of the late Sidney and Mary Hoover Franklin.  After graduating from Monticello High School she worked in a local store where she met and later was united in marriage with Leland Zimmerman on July 24, 1959.  Together they were blessed with two children.

Preceding her in death were her beloved husband, six sisters and two brothers.  She leaves behind her children, Dan (Linda) Zimmerman and Teresa J. Martin, three granddaughters, Cassidie A. Harrington, Brittonie (Lee) Jackson and Valkyrie (Willy) Groves; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen (Linda) Franklin, and several nieces and nephews.

Her interests included flower gardening, writing poetry, singing, and playing the organ and guitar.  She also loved spending time with the family and playing games and cooking for them.  She attended the Northwestern Baptist Church and sometimes visited Adams Chapel Baptist Church when she could.

Betty will be laid to rest beside her husband in East Side Cemetery in Martin, Tennessee.
