Betty Ann Arnold Smith

Mrs. Betty Ann Arnold Smith, age 81, of Martin, TN, died Saturday, 06/12/2021, at Diversicare of Martin, TN.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 14, 2021 at 2 pm,  at Murphy Funeral Home. Visitation is from 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. prior to the service. Burial will follow in Eastside Cemetery in Martin.

Mrs. Smith was born on December 5, 1939 in Dyersburg, TN but she had called Martin her home for most of her life. A charter member of Southside Baptist Church, she retired from Martin Manufacturing Co. after more than 26 years in the local factories.

Following her marriage to Farris Smith, Jr., on May 1, 1976, she devoted herself to being a homemaker. Many wonderful meals were cooked in her kitchen over the years. And a lot of great memories were made there. Other hobbies included a lifelong love of photography, genealogy and even occasional crappie fishing trips with her husband. Traveling to nearby cities and states was always fun but she seemed happier as an armchair traveler, content to absorb her world travels and adventures from the pages of every book she could find. Her appetite for reading was almost as great as her love of a good meal.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her husband, Farris Smith, Jr., of Martin, TN; her step daughters, Regina (Randy) Campbell, Decatur, Ala., and Robin Farrar, Rives, TN; a sister, Nancy (Tim) Sharp, Palmersville, TN; and a niece, Renee (Andy) Phelps, Nashville, TN.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hobert Eugene Arnold and Mamie Laurell Heathcott Arnold. She was also preceded in death by one half brother, Ralph D. Barnes, Charlotte, NC.
