Anna Kate Wenz was granted her angel wings on March 2, 2016, following a courageous battle with a team of Ninjas that were relentless. Anna Kate never showed any signs of weakness nor any signs of giving up until she was ready to go “Home.” Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends who Anna Kate had touched in some small way throughout her short, yet very memorable life.
Anna Kate’s life would seem too short to many, but those, who were touched by her, understood that the quality of her little existence far exceeded the quantity of time in which she was allowed on this earth. Her gigantic smile could melt the hearts of those around her, and her eyes would draw you in.
Anna Kate had terrible Ninja’s that attacked her little brain, but they were never able to attack her heart. She possessed the strength, perseverance, and ability to overcome incredible odds and always come out smiling. With her courage, she led us to believe that each day was a blessing and an opportunity to create lasting memories. In her short life, Anna Kate was able to pull communities together and reunite people with faith and prayer. Our Princess Warrior lived life to the fullest and never missed a moment to smile and dance. She never worried about what others thought, or who was watching. She just enjoyed the moment. She would spend hours watching her favorite character, Doc McStuffin, while cuddling Lambie or Chilly close to her heart, and for those who knew her best, these characters allowed her to be little.
With Anna Kate’s passing, we remind each other that her life is one to be celebrated. Although we will miss her every day, especially her great big smile and big brown eyes, she will forever remain in our hearts. Through her, we were able to understand that some things mattered and others did not. Each day was meant to be a blessing, and what mattered most was us making memories.
Anna Kate leaves behind many wonderful people who loved her to the moon and back. Anna Kate’s love extends to the wonderful nurses and doctors at St. Jude who always made her feel like she was at home. There will always be a special place in our hearts for that gold dome and everything they did to make sure her wishes were always granted.
