She was a homemaker and member of Martin First United Methodist Church for over 90 years. Angie contributed with a committee to make the current altar cushions in the church reflecting its history. She was a Girl Scout Troop leader and a member of the Martin Fine Arts Club. She graduated and was secretary of her Senior Class of Martin High School. Angie graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin and Knoxville with a B.S. in Home Economics where she was involved with numerous campus and honorary organizations, none more special to her than Delta Delta Delta sorority. She rarely sat still. Upon graduation from Knoxville, she became a home demonstration agent for UT Extension Service for Henry County sharing her skills for nutrition, exercise, budgeting and health with their citizens. Angie loved music and was gifted with a beautiful voice. Tennis was her game and being left handed added leverage to her wicked serve to her opponents. She followed Wimbledon and major players until her last day. She loved to travel. Tom and she were fortunate to travel and enjoy most places in the world.
Angie was known for her innate ability to connect with people and had a magnetic personality that drew others to her. Angie spread joy, positivity, love, laughter, and gave many compliments to everyone she met. She was a strong Christian who read daily devotionals. Angie followed her church live streaming on her computer and emails until recently when her health prevented her. She was a beloved cooking teacher who loved to entertain and host meals and celebrations. Every meal and birthday cake were all homemade and it was sin to use purchased pie crust. She had a creative mind and infectious spirit that brought so much meaning to life. Her children could never miss a day without having their vegetables. Nutrition and healthy living ruled her days. Meal planning for the future was engrained in her. She is probably planning a meal for the future now after her transition. Interior design, making stain glass windows and flower arranging were other talents she possessed.
She was an elegant lady and devoted mother and grandmother who treasured her family above all else. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia Farmer of Lavergne/Martin, TN; her son, David Farmer of Smyrna, TN; two grandchildren, Amanda Farmer and Daniel Farmer; her nephew, James (Stacye) Fisher; great nephews, Bryant (Amy) Fisher and Andrew (Jenna) Fisher.
Angie will be remembered for her open and loving nature, her sparkling smile and personality, and her ability to make life fun while still bringing depth and meaning to every moment. The family wishes to especially thank her constant friends, Ruthie Scott, Deb Henry, Lisa Colson, Theresa Warford, Faye Carrington, TN Quality Hospice and Nurse Toni.
