Allie Baker Downen

Mrs. Allie Mozell Baker Downen, age 85, died Monday at Volunteer Community Hospital. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by Gardnier & Sons Funeral Home in Centralia, Illinois.

She is survived by her husband, Orval Hubert (Hugh) Downen of Martin. She is survived by her daughter, Boneita Sue (Beem) Plebanski of Monena, Illinois; step son, Larry Downen; step-daughter, Beverly C. Dickenson of Dekalb, Illinois; brother-in-laws, Bobby Gardner and Fred House both of Martin. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Corbitt Baker and Verlie Adams Baker; brother, Jessie Corbitt Baker, Jr; step-daughter, Jeanette Downen.

Mrs. Downen attended Stella Ruth High School and graduated from Martin High School. She was a bookkeeper and sales with J.C. Penney Company and Simpson Electric in Aurora, Illinois. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Martin.
