Adam Samuel White, affectionately known to many as "Bump" was born on September 8, 1978, in Union City, Tennessee, and was raised in Martin, Tennessee.
Funeral service will be Saturday, November 4, 2023, 2:00 P.M. at Bellevue Baptist Church Worship Center, 2000 Appling Road, Cordova, TN 38016. Visitation will be on Saturday beginning at 12:00 Noon until funeral time at the church. Burial will follow in Memphis Funeral Home Memorial Gardens, 3700 North Germantown Parkway, Bartlett, Tennessee.
Adam graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a degree in agricultural business. While there, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity. He would occasionally reminisce on that season with a smirk on his face, referring to college as "some of the best six years of his life."
In 2013, Shelly Dane, an acquaintance of Adam since childhood, started noticing more interaction on her Facebook posts from him. Intrigued, she challenged him to a Facebook music trivia game but quickly realized she was no match for his music knowledge.
If you asked Adam, he would tell you their first date was in third grade. But truth be told, Adam and Shelly went on their first date on February 1, 2013. It didn't take them long to realize they had each met the match they'd been looking for their whole lives. On December 21, 2013, mere minutes before a monsoon swept through West Tennessee, Shelly and Adam were married at First Baptist Church Martin. They moved to Memphis 2014, and on July 8, 2015, the couple welcomed Tucker Phillip White (aka, Adam's "Best Buddy") into the world.
After moving to Memphis, Adam started a career with Helena Agri-Enterprises that he loved. During his 9.5 years with the company, he was promoted numerous times and most recently held the title of Equipment Services Manager. He found great joy in his job as it utilized one of his greatest assets-working with people.
Adam was everyone's best friend, a professional groomsman, a Braves fan, an Ohio State fan, a fisherman, and much more. But what Adam would really want you to know about him was the freedom he found in Jesus. Never one to hide who he was, he gladly shared with anyone about his former struggles and the transformation God miraculously performed in his life. On October 16, 2022, Adam was ordained as a deacon at Bellevue Baptist Church, a role in which he faithfully served the Lord and the Church. He frequently taught in his Life Group, volunteered in Children's Ministry, mentored at a Memphis rehab facility, and served in various other capacities around the church. Adam was many things to many people, but first and foremost, he was a man of God.
Following a brief battle with lung cancer, Adam was fully healed when he stepped into Heaven on October 26. He is survived by his wife, Shelly; his son, Tucker (8); his parents, Sammy and Vicki; his sister, Amber Brundige (Kenny); and his nephew, Henson (10). He is preceded in death by his grandparents Clyde Wayne and Estelee Adams, Preston and Thelma Burton, and Fred P. White.
"Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come."
